Memories...
I remember going to visit "Grampa John" and
Grandma Farina and the smell of home cooked Italian food
as soon as we opened the gate to walk down that little
sidewalk to their front door.
Grampa
had a back yard but he converted it to a full garden on
both sides of the walkway where he grew the best vegetables.
I used to look to see how big the different vegetables
were getting when we would walk past the garden.
Inside Grampa's house my Father and Grampa would talk
in Italian about a lot of different things. I remember
when I was a toddler how hearing them talk in Italian
at our house in the other room would soothe me to sleep.
When
we came to visit, Grampa always made sure there was a
little bowl of something, usually salad or olives &
bread, for the kids to eat. He even had his own Fig tree
from Italy. If you were really good, he would give you
a Fig to eat. I just loved Grampa's figs!
Grampa loved children and I remember how he used to make
us laugh so hard! He always made you feel important. Like
you were someone important in his house.
Grampa John is sadly missed but will never be forgotten.
I will continue to operate Javanni Inc. in his name and
with the same pride and respect he showed others during
his lifetime.
